Ok First Old Prim Picture

Ok this prim is the first in a series of stories I will be publishing this week about my older prims and how it got me started in this whole primitive business. This prim is one I hold the dearest because I made it with my father when I was 15 yrs old.

The story behind this guy is my dad was making wooden crafts for my mother to sell at local shows and shops. He decided to try his hand at whittling wood. Well, he didn't like the way this santa turned out and so he threw it in the trash can he has in his workshop.

I was walking by and saw it and I saw a vision of what it could look like so I dug it out of the trash can, painted it and sanded it and put antiquing stain on it and walla here he is now 22 years later! My dad was amazed at how it transformed after being painted. I have kept this since I was 15. I am 37 now. Every time I bring it out for Christmas it reminds me of this story and time.....

I also have the turkey call up on my ebay just trying it out. They sell well on my website and Etsy so wanting to test ebay. This is the last turkey call I will have for awhile as it takes my father about 3 months to make one and get the sound perfected. He is working on some but I won't see any of them until at least March maybe right before Easter. So great gift for a hunter for then, birthday gift, etc....

I have overhauled my website to Valentine's Day which seems strange when Christmas hasn't arrived yet but it needed to be done. There are now new dolls up there for ordering. I also added another page to the farmhouse tab of new dollies for ordering.

New Item Coming--Made by my Dad

My dad is a whiz with wood. He is retired and last year he fell off a ladder and broke his hip. He had to have major surgery for it and then he had to go to physical therapy. This prompted him to start making things to keep busy. He loved to hunt and still tries to go when he can.

Sooo he designed his own set of turkey calls. Made from wood and carved to perfection. He sits and fiddles with them until he makes them sound just right. These are very detailed pieces. A leading hunting channel person (can't remember his name and have to ask) has bought many of them from him and approached him about making them to sell of his TV show. He wanted 5,000 to start though and dad being only one person said ummm no can't be done.

Well, I have begged him to send me a couple of his calls to sell on my website and here. He has chosen to give me 4. These are limited pieces as he only makes so many of the same piece. Right now these are the only 4 he has made.

He charges $35 a call. I will take pictures and post them here as soon as they arrive to me in the mail.

These will be first come first served. Think of a unique gift for your hubby, a woman who hunts, or just to display in your primitive home. If you would like to be on the reservation list just use the contact me form at left under where to find me. This will insure you a place in line to purchase if you like it after you see it. Just title the form turkey call.
