Interview With Jen West of Bittersweet Primitives and Yankee Ridge Primitives

1. What is the name of your Etsy shop or website and why did you choose that name?
I have 2 blogs that I sell from, Yankee Ridge Primitives and Bittersweet Prims.
I also sell on the Handcrafters Showcase. I chose Yankee Ridge
Primitives because I am a YANKEE after all, born and raised in
NY:) The Ridge is because I live "over the ridge". Ridge Rd also known
as Route 104 (is a 182.41-mile (293.56 km) long east–west state highway
in Upstate New York, United States. It spans six counties and enters the
vicinity of four cities—Niagara Falls, Lockport, Rochester, and Oswego—
as it follows a routing largely parallel to that of the southern shoreline of Lake
Ontario, along a ridge of the old shoreline of Glacial Lake Iroquois)
Therefore Yankee Ridge Primitives was born!

2. How long have you been on Etsy or how long have you had a website?

I opened YRP, my selling blog on April 9th 2009

3. What type of items do you offer?

I make primitive dolls, make-dos, nodders and dabble a little with beeswax tapers. We will be adding wooden smalls and hopefully penny rugs in the future!

4. How long have you been crafting?

I have been crafting since I was a child but just recently started primitive dolls and crafting.

5. Who or What inspires you?
I take alot of inspiration from other primitive artists, such as yourself! The primitive crafting world on the web is FULL of wonderful gals with extreme talent!! I am also inspired by my 3 kids.
*Thanks for the comliment :) *

6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?

Its really hard to choose one favorite. I am partial to snowmen and santas but I also love my Folky Spring time buns!

7. Other places where you can be found (Ebay, webstore, blog)
I rent a booth at Canal Country Artisans located in Medina NY, its a wonderful prim shop full of talented artists.

8) Describe what a typical day of crafting is like for you..
My typical day starts around 4:30am when I get up, enjoy my coffee and start crafting. I craft pretty much all day with breaks in between to play with my 3 yr old.

Jenn has been a great friend of mine for several years. She never fails to amaze me with the things she makes. I am honored to have several of her handmade treasures in my home.
But it's her friendship I cherish the most. She is an awesome person!
I really enjoyed reading her interview.
Keep up the good work, Jenn! I'm so proud of you!
